The deciding factor is a measured donor assessment — not how much hair you want, but how much the donor can safely give.
Most clinical teams recommend waiting at least 10–12 months. The first result needs time to fully mature so the new plan builds on the real outcome, and the donor area needs time to heal and revascularise before grafts are taken again. Planning earlier than that means planning against an unfinished picture.
A typical donor area can safely provide roughly 6,000–7,000 grafts across a lifetime, depending on density, hair characteristics and how the first sessions were harvested. This is why every session should leave a measured reserve — the donor is a finite resource, not an unlimited supply.
