Light walking is fine from day one. Gentle cardio that does not cause heavy sweating is usually reintroduced after about 10–14 days, and normal resistance training around week 3–4. Heavy lifting, contact sport, swimming and sauna are typically kept out until week 4–6. Follow the timeline your own clinical team gives you, since it accounts for your procedure and healing.
In the first days the recipient sites are healing wounds and the grafts are still anchoring. Salt in sweat irritates those sites, moisture softens scabs, and the rubbing or scratching that follows itching is what actually dislodges grafts. Avoiding heavy sweating in the early phase removes that whole chain of risk.
Light, controlled sets are generally resumed around week 3. Maximal lifting, straining and breath-holding raise blood pressure in the scalp and can increase swelling or bleeding at the recipient sites, so they are usually left until week 4–6. Build back up gradually rather than returning to your previous volume in one session.
Not early on. Chlorinated pools and the sea expose healing sites to chemicals and bacteria, so swimming is normally avoided for at least 4 weeks, and longer if your team advises it. The same applies to sauna, steam rooms and hot tubs, where heat plus heavy sweating combine.
Once grafts are secure and healed, training has no negative effect on the transplanted hair — good circulation is helpful. The risk window is the first weeks, when mechanical contact, sweat and elevated blood pressure can disturb grafts that are still settling.
Anything that presses, rubs or traps heat on the recipient area is avoided in the first weeks. Loose, clean headwear may be permitted earlier if your team approves it; tight caps, headbands, helmets and headphones that sit on the graft area wait until healing is complete.
